Tuesday December 8 - Tonight I graduated from Dale Carnegie Training! This entire Human Relations course has been such a blessing in my life. Thank you Dale Carnegie of Kentucky - I will put what I have learned to work everyday ;)

Saturday December 19 - This evening is the Mrs. Kentucky Queens Club Christmas Party! It is wonderful to see Ra'Tonya (2008), Denise (2007), Shawn (2006), Heather (2005), Julie (2004), and Kelly (2003) and their hubbbies with our favorite Queen Mom and Pete ;) Our ornament exchange, christmas caroling, and dinner were spectacular. I feel extremely lucky to be one of our Mrs. Kentucky Queens!

Monday November 16 - This morning I have the opportunity to interview Laura Kirkpatrick of America's Next Top Model Cycle 13!!! Laura is a finalist this season on ANTM and from Stanford KY. I have watched every episode and extremely proud of Laura. Today she answers all my questions for my upcoming article in The Hamburg Journal about her experiences on ANTM. I feel lucky to have met such and inspiration and her amazing family.

Wednesday November 18 - Tonight is the final of America's Next Top Model Cycle 13. I travel to Standford KY to co-emcee the ANTM Runway Part at Lincoln County High School. Hundreds of fans gather in the LCHS auditorirum to enjoy a Tres Chic Boutique fashion show and to take in the last episode of ANTM this season. Laura K. (our Kentucky finalist) wins runner up and Fan Favorite! Congrats to Laura and all the opportunities ahead ;)

Sunday November 22 - Finally -- the day has arrived to do a photoshoot with Jerame Stephens (www.capturedbyjerame.com). Jerame and I get some fabulous shots at The Hamburg Place horse cemetary, Lexington's Firehouse #5, and Transylvania University. Thank you Jerame for all your hard work, the extreme laughs, and beatiful photos I will treasure my entire life!!

Monday November 23 - Up EARLY and headed to Louisville today for a hair appointment with Queen Mum. I'm so grateful to have hair services provided by Jo Ann and JR's Salon this year. JR's and Jo Ann keep my hairdo' looking good! I'm also grateful this morning that I can recieve the beautiful hairdo in my PJ's for our 8 AM appointment ;) After catching up with Queen Mum (and changing out of my PJ's!), I make my way to O'Sheas for a Dream Factory Charity Fundraiser. Today O'Sheas is donating 100% of the proceeds to The Dream Factory for all their good work. I meet with The Dream Factory Staff, Dawn Gee (Louisville News), and Survivor's season 18 cast member, Sandy, of Louisville KY!

Friday November 2 - This weekend I will be in Chicago! I am a Jazzercise Instructor and owner of Woodhill Jazzercise Center in Lexington. This weekend Jazzercise is celebrating our 40th anniversary at the "Jazz in the City" celebration. Tomorrow I will take 3 Jazzercise classes with the founder of Jazzercise and 1000+ participants. After the classes we'll refresh and head to the Art Institute of Chicago for a reception. But first - tonight I'll be meeting up with Anji M., Mrs. Illinois America 2009. Can't wait to see her and catch up in her beautiful city!

Tuesday November 10 - Tonight is week 6 of my Dale Carnegie course. At the half way point of this session I am already putting so much that am I learning to use in my business practices/personal life/and Mrs. Kentucky experiences. Tonight we are instructed to give impromptu speeches - I'm told my topic is = politics. I go with the first thoughts that enter my mind and speak from the heart and recieve the Outstanding Performance Award!

Friday October 23 - Runway for the Cure TONIGHT! The event held on the University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Campus was spectactular ;) Miss Kentucky 2009 Mallory was the emcee of the event and it was so nice getting to know her. I had a blast modeling in the show and am honored to have participated in this event which raised $10,000+ for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wednesday October 28 - On the road in Louisville today I stop in at Lowe Elementary to meet their Relections contest winners. The staff and students were so welcoming! Conratulations to the Reflections entrants and winners. Thank you for having me at your great school!

Tuesday October 20 - Tonight I head to my 3rd week of Dale Carnegie training! We give presentations on our proudest achievement. I shared with the group my late start into pageantry and how proud I am of what I have accomplished since the pageantry chapter in my life began ;) We were instructed to bring an exhibit that illustrates the message. I brought my Mrs. Kentucky America crown! I recieved the award for "Oustanding Performance" and am THRILLED!

Thursday October 22 - Preparations continue today for the Runway for the Cure Fashion Show as I head to Nitro Boutique in Frankfort. We pick out a gorgeous formal look as well as a polished tailored look to wear in the show tomorrow night. This evening is the Runway for the Cure rehearsal - stay tuned for updates.

Saturday October 10 - Party Princess day is finally here! The Wedding Center/Tres Chic Boutique have a new "little sister" called Party Princess. Today I take my daughters to Party Princess to celebrate with their friends ;) My family has been amazingly supportive during my time as Mrs. Kentucky and this was a special day for them to be treated like queens (the party princess staff is amazing!). Tuesday October 13 - Tonight marks the 2nd week of my Dale Carnegie Training. I can almost feel myself changing through this amazing course. I am learning new ways to think and most importantly better ways to communicate. Tonight each student in the class speaks to the group about a defining moment. I am so lucky to be a participant and can't wait till next week where we will express our proudest life achievement.

Wednesday October 14 - Today is my interview with Tim K. of The Pageantcast! The Pageantcast is a podcast on the topic of all things pageant related. I first met Tim K. in Cincinnati where we both were juding a regional pageant. We hit it off and Tim K. interviewed me in October 2007 about my pageant experiences. Today's interview was lots of fun and a great opportunity to catch up. We covered all topics including the 2009 Mrs. America Pageant! The interview is expected to air during the 2009 holiday season. Tuesday September 22 - This week I will be heading to quite a few boutiques in Lexintgton to pick out attire for the upcoming "Glitz and Glam Fashion Show Over Lexington" at Bakers 360 to benefit The Kidney Foundation. Can't wait to see what I'll be wearing from Peppermint Palm, Mod Boutique, Helen's Boutique, and Tres Chic Boutique!!!

Sunday September 27 - Today is the rehearsal at Bakers 360 for "Glitz and Glam Fashion Show Over Lexington". It is great to catch up with so many wonderful (and gorgeous) gals in town who will be modeling in the show. I'm excited for the main event on Friday night!

Friday October 2 - "Glitz and Glam Fashion Show Over Lexington" is tonight! The event is a sucess with so much good done for The Kidney Foundation ;) So proud to be part of it and even got a chance to wear my feather hat from my Mrs. Kentucky costume at Mrs. America!!!

Saturday October 3 - Today starts early at Keeneland for The Buddy Walk to benefit Down's Syndrome Association. This is my 2nd year participating in this event and I can't wait to be back next year ;)

Tuesday October 6 - Each year the winner of Mrs. Kentucky recieves a scholarship to the Dale Carnegie course (what a tremendous prize!!). I begin my Dale Carnegie course tonight. Over the next 10 weeks I look forward to learning how to be a better communicator in my professional and personal life.

Monday September 7 - We are getting so close to the finish! Breakfast is the right way to start the day (the food at this resort is AMAZING). After breakfast its back to rehearsals, then Lunch (YUM!), then more afternoon rehearsals. We are released from rehearsals at 4 pm to undergo hair and make-up for the preliminary Mrs. America show. Deata and Jo Ann make me fabulous and confident to knock em' out at the prelim show tonight! I feel great about my performance ;)

Tuesday September 8 - Today starts out just like yesterday and this afternoon we are released at 4 pm again for hair and make-up. I feel extremely prepared and relaxed after a pep talk from Alan Thicke just as the show begins! I did my ABSOLUTE best ALL evening. Florence Henderson anncounced that I had made the Top 10 at Mrs. America!!! The evenings gets a bit more intense for me as I'm annouced for Top 6! I am the last delegate in the Top 6 to answer my onstage question and I gave it 100%. As I look around at the top 6 am so proud to be in this group of extraordinary women and know that any one of us will make a FANTASTIC Mrs. America 2010! The top 3 are announced (Virginia, Missouri, and Minnesota) and Mrs. Missouri WINS. Congrats to Andrea who is our new Mrs. America 2010 ;) After the pageant the Top 10 are invited to the Presidents suite for an afterparty which was delightful!

Wednesday September 9 - Hubby and I have decided to stay a few extra days at the host hotel in Tucson for a little R & R. We enjoy time in the pool, hot tub, golf course, and a romantic dinner lakeside!

Thursday September 10 - The R & R in AZ continues ;) Cory and I head out for a mountain hike this morning. About 2.4 miles up the trail we come upon a rattlesnake (no joke!)! The hiking adventure stops immediately and we decide to spend the rest of the day at the pool ;)

Friday September 11 - Headed home to Kentucky today! What a wonderful adventure Mrs. America was!

Saturday September 5 - Up and at em' with a 6:15 am photoshoot by the pool in swimwear! Later this morning we have a MENC seminar (Mrs. America partnership to keep music in schools) as well as morning, afternoon, and evening rehearsals. Highlights of the day include introductions to Florence Henderson (one of the mc/show hosts) as well as our delegate gift exchange!!

Sunday September 6 - Do you know that the Director of Mrs. KY has a gift for me everyday here at Mrs. America? I am so blessed with such a caring and professional director! My gift today is the CUTEST Mrs. Kentucky t-shirt ;) After opening my gift I head off to hair and make-up to look my best for interview. With interview complete I'm looking forward to the JazzFest at the hotel tonight as well as evening rehearsal.

Wednesday September 2 - I head out this morning for a run early and encounter some small AZ critters (lizards, BIG bugs, etc.) and beautiful desert landscape. Mrs. America show rehearsals begin at 9 AM! After rehearsals and lunch we board a bus for a Habitat for Humanity Project. Local media captures us in action:

Thursday September 3 - I feel like we are getting into a rhythm at Mrs. America. Breakfast, rehearsals, and an outing today to La Encantada mall! We have a red carpet reception at St. John complete with champagne ;) After some shopping we head back to the hotel for rehearsals followed by a dinner reception at the Mrs. America Presidents suite with the President of the Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau. I present Mr. Walker (CVB President) with a gift from Kentucky - a Makers Mark gift basket ;)

Friday September 4 - We start off the morning with a golf photo shoot! So fun!! Afterwards we head to rehearsals, lunch, rehearsals, and then off to the Presidents dinner with the hosting hotel GM. Each delegate present Mr. Johnson a gift from their state (More Makers Mark!. Such a glamorous and exciting evening!
Thursday August 27 - I'm a Sigma Kappa Alum (University of Kentucky) -- today my Sigma Kappa Triangle Magazine arrived with a special Mrs. Kentucky feature!

Friday August 28 - Last minute stops today as Mrs. America is just around the corner. My interview suit is fresh from alterations and ready for Mrs. America. This afternoon I stop by KISS FM 96.9 for an appearance on air with Skip Eliot -- thank you for all the encouragement and support.

Monday August 31 - I arrive in TUCSON AZ for Mrs. America ;) I have family (that I haven't seen since age 3) who reside in Tucson -- they were so kind to meet me at the airport and it was such a treat to spend time with them this evening. I arrive at the hosting hotel Loewes Ventana Canyon to discover it is HUGE, FANTASTIC, with AMAZING staff.

Tuesday September 1 - My roomate, Mrs. Kansas, arrives today! She takes it in stride that her luggage is still back in Kansas because the airline didn't have enough room for her bags (??!??) She raids the hotel boutique for essentials and never once complains. Together we head down to the first official event of Mrs. America week - the orientation dinner! At orientation we meet all 51 gorgeous delegates as well as the Mrs. America staff ;)

Saturday August 15 - The family and I are back in the Derby City today for the Mrs. Kentucky 2009 sendoff party! The event is SO amazing - thank you Denise for hosting this beautiful event;)and to QM for organizing! I recieved many goodies to ease my travels and stay at Mrs. America. I appreciate all the former Mrs. KY's for their advice, support, and inspiration. The food at this event - absolutely delish!!!!

Sunday August 16 - Todays starts early will full hair and make-up at Jr.'s Salon as we prepare for mock interview day! Mrs Indiana 2009 Julie T. and I meet up (LOVE HER!) for a full scale Mrs. America style interview session. This was an extremely valuable experience. The feedback will truly help at Mrs. America interviews.

Monday August 17 - Rise and Shine!!! I'm up early for a WLEX News feature at my Jazzercise studio (5:30 AM) featuring the 1 DAY SALE. My studio welcomed 21 new members today -- super excited to see all these new faces in class.

Tuesday August 18 - Mrs. America office announces roomates for Mrs. America week! I'm thrilled with my beautiful roomie and can't wait to meet her - nope, not telling ;)

Thursday August 20 - I head to the the SKIRT magazine August After Work Party tonight at Bakers 360 (new Lexington hostspot on the top floor of the Chase Bank building). So much fun to catch up with girlfriends (last time before heading to Mrs. A) and even ran into Jill Brown, Mrs. Kentucky 1989!

Saturday August 22 - Another bright and EARLY morning!!! Today brings a photoshoot with photographer Jerame Stephens (www.capturedbyjerame.com) for Tres Chic Boutique!!!! Love working with Deata, Shelby, Logan, and Jerame for some GREAT shots.

Tuesday August 25 - Boxes are packed and ready to head to Tucson AZ. THANK YOU to Bruce &UPS Hamburg Store for sponsoring my shipping to Mrs. America.

Wednesday August 26 - Only 5 days until I leave for Mrs. America. It is time to attend to all the last minute details with a trip to Louisville.
*First stop: Makers Mark (yes, Bourbon!) to pick up gifts for my 50 fellow Mrs. America delegates as well as gifts for the mayor of Tucson and the host hotel general manager. Thank you Makers Mark!!
*Second stop: Cut and Color with Jo Ann at Jr.'s Salon - HOT!
*Third stop: IMAAGE for an amazing facial with Erica ;) This is my first visit to Imaage (www.myimaage.com). This full service facility is state of the art. I can't wait to return!

Saturday August 8 - It feels like Saturday Funday with a full & exciting day! First a meeting with Fitness for the Family board members (planning future events). Next I'm off to then pick up my ECTectera interview suit from Jill Brown (Mrs. Kentucky 1989) and work with her picking out my outfit for a fall photo shoot featuring ECTectera later this month. Next I stop my Tres Chic Boutique for final measurements for my Mrs. Kentucky state costume (top secret ;) While at Tres Chic Boutique I pick up a few smashing gowns for festivities during Mrs. America Pageant week in AZ. Monday August 10 - Mrs. Kentucky America magnetic car signs arrive today courtesy of Classic Promotions. Look for them at an appearance near you!

Tuesday August 11 - Queen Mum asked me to draft a letter for the newly selected Mrs. Kentucky 2010 delegates. I feel as though I express myself best in writing and am so excited to be one of the first to welcome the newest contestants to their Mrs. Kentucky 2010 adventure. I worked hard to "keep it real" and inspire them to hold nothing back in their journey this year.

Thursday August 13 - Who says 13 is unlucky? Today the UPS store in Hamburg signs on as a Mrs. Kentucky 2009 sponsor. UPS Hamburg will be shipping my boxes to AZ for the Mrs. America pageant. Yes, there will be boxes :)

Friday August 14 - My earrings for evening gown competition are IN at Miss Priss! Daughter Cece and I stop in to see Elizabeth and check out her custom made stunning earrings -- breathtaking -- and perfect for my gown. Thank you Miss Priss!

Wednesday July 15 - I'm so excited to announce that Jazzercise Inc. will be advertising in the Mrs. America Pageant Program book on my Mrs. Kentucky page! More details to follow.......

Thursday July 16 - Today I finished the Mrs. America application. Well, "finished" might not be accurate as Queen Mum and my former Mrs. Kentucky sisters will review for grammatical corrections and unclear thoughts - so much appreciated!

Saturday July 18 - My hubby and I headed out for date night to the Miss Kentucky America pageant tonight. These beautiful KY contestants knocked my socks off! Congrats to the new Miss Kentucky Mallory Ervin! At the pageant I was honored to be recognized as "visiting royalty" during the production. I had the chance to visit with "T" Mrs. Kentucky 2008, Jill Brown Mrs. Kentucky 1989, Katina J. (Mrs. Eastern KY 2008), Debbie R. (Mrs. Jefferson Co. 2008), Candace H. (Mrs. Pendelton County 2010), Karen Blackwell Mucci of Charmed Pageants, Deata and Shelby Gregory of Tres Chic Boutique, Elizabeth Cruse of Miss Priss, and Taylor Thomas a Bluegrass Princess!

Tuesday July 21 - Beautiful JA Creations arrived in the mail today! JA Creations is a Mrs. Kentucky jewelry sponsor and has been a delight to work with. Wednesday July 22 - Today I traveled to Northern Kentucky to visit Beneath the Crown, a brand new pageant boutique in Florence, KY. Beneath the Crown is a Mrs. Kentucky sponsor! Laura at Beneath the Crown worked with me to select a perfect cocktail dress for Mrs. America festivities and some beautiful earrings to go with :) I appreciate the generosity of Laura & Beneath the Crown!

Wednesday July 29 - I'm starting to really look forward to my monthly visit to Jr.'s Salon and Spa. Today's visit was so fun and the hairdo is fantastic ;) Thanks Queen Mum! While in Louisville, my daughters and I take in a beautiful day at The Louisville Zoo.

Tuesday June 30 - Its time to tackle the Mrs. America application. This will be a challenge but well worth the effort. Information asked for on the application include: favorite recipe, community involvement information, biography, most admired woman essay, and anecdotal experiences! I'll be working this until further notice...

Wednesday July 1 - Today I will travel to Louisville for my second hair appointment with QM! I appreciate all the time and effort Jo Ann and the team at Jr.'s Salon and Spa take to make my hair its best. I also have a feature pic with information today in The Lexington Herald Leader Newspaper.

Friday July 3 - My evening gown is IN at Miss Priss! WOW - its even more gorgeous than I imagined. Husband Cory, Queen Mum, and Elizabeth at Miss Priss give a thumbs up ;) Together we find a slammin' cocktail dress at Miss Priss to wear at one of cocktail attire events at Mrs. America!

Monday July 6 - My official Mrs. Kentucky thank you notes arrive today ;) I'm inspired to get busy and let all the wonderful Mrs. Kentucky sponsors know how much I appreciate the opportunities they have provided

Tuesday July 7 - 12:30 pm appearance on WLEX 18 TV News (Lexington, KY). I had a fantastic time on air with Dia D. and Lee C. talking about Fitness for the Family Foundation as well as upcoming appearances. In the WLEX green room I had the pleasure of meeting Representatives from Bluebell Ice Cream (they brought new flavors to WLEX!)!

July 10 - I have been looking forward to this event for more than a month! Tonight I attended the Lexington Legends Baseball game and threw out the first pitch! Husband Cory has been working with me to "practice" throwing out the opening pitch with a correctly measured area in our backyard. His serious approach to our pitch drills left me astonished. He was equally dazzled that I could throw the ball "like its on a rope" in 4 inch heels!

Monday June 15 - Today I was interviewed by Helen at Round About Madison Newspaper (Madison IN) for an upcoming article. http://www.roundaboutmadison.com/

Wednesday June 17 - Mrs. America announces that this year the pageant will be held in Tucson AZ, September 1 - 8th. This is incredibly special to me because not only will I be able to represent Kentucky at Mrs. America but I will also be able to visit my 94 year old great grandmother who lives in Tucson!!

Friday June 19 - Jo Ann (Queen Mum) traveled to Lexington today to make me beautiful for the Mrs. Kentucky lifestyle photoshoot. These photos will be posted on the Mrs. America website under my Kentucky page. Carlee our photographer worked tirelessly to ensure a fun and successful photoshoot. http://www.carleejeanphotography.com/ We all had a blast with the baby pool shots (inspired by W Magazine cover November 2008), golf course fun, horse play at the farm, and a real pillow fight where feathers flew ;)

Sunday June 21 - Happy Fathers Day to my husband and all the dads who do so much for us! Happy birthday to my first baby who turns 7 today! Dad and daughter celebrated the day with a trip to Kings Island Amusement Park in Cincinnati, OH.

Thursday June 25 - I celebrated my birthday today by making a trip to Kiss FM 96.9 Lexington for some on air time promoting "Fitness for the Family" as well as the Mrs. Kentucky America pageant. Skip Eliot made me feel very welcome and I can't wait to go back ;)

Friday June 26 - Traveled to Louisville to be on the Barbara Bryant radio show with Queen Mum http://barbarabryantshow.com/. Barbara is a wonderful host and stayed true to form with her tough questions ;) After the radio show we headed downtown to 4th Street Live for a Dream Factory "Better Than Ezra" concert. I was thrilled to be a part and help raise funds for this organization that does so much good for ill children and their families.

Saturday June 27th - Bright and Early Appearance at Hike for Hosparus in Louisville! Ronald McDonald and I Iwarmed up the crowd to Y - M - C - A!!!

Sunday May 31st Mrs. Kentucky 1984 (Paula G.) came to a class at my Jazzercise Center today. Paula and I met during the Mrs. Kentucky 2009 pageant! We had some time before class to talk about Kentucky state costumes at Mrs. America. Paula brought her daughter and participated in what ended up being a full mother/daughter Jazzercise class.

Elizabeth & Cara at Miss Priss worked with us for hours to pick the perfect evening gown for the Mrs. America pageant. It is amazing and I am so blessed to have such amazing help! Jo Ann and I grabbed a quick bite of lunch at DaSha's and went over what paperwork details need to be completed for Mrs. America.

Thursday June 4th Traveled to Louisville for my first appointment for hair service at Jr.'s Salon and Spa (Mrs. Kentucky sponsor) . LOVE the results -- so chic!

Friday June 5th Images Model Agency in Lexington, KY selects me as "June Model of the Month!" http://www.imagesmodelagency.com/

Saturday June 6th Delighted to head to Tres Chic Boutique to help several contestants prepare for Miss Kentucky and Miss Kentucky Outstanding Teen. The gals worked very hard on swimsuit stage presence and interview and I was so happy to be a part.

Tuesday June 8th - Thursday June 11th Each year all the women in my family make a pilgrimage to Carter Caves, KY for some "girl" time. This year the rain didn't slow us down as we (age 1 - age 77) enjoyed all that this amazing KY State Park has to offer!

Friday June 12th I was honored to participate for the second year at Relay for Life in Paris, Kentucky. I presented cancer survivors with a medal as they were announced at the start of the event. Relay for Life is dear to me as my grandmother was diagnosed (2007) with Lymphoma (stage 4) and is now in remission.

Saturday May 23rd I was crowned and didn't eat dinner until midnight. I was too excited and had too much to say to eat! It was great to meet with Mrs. Kentucky sponsors, family, and friends post pageant.

Sunday May 24th I was up and ready for hair and makeup at 8 am. Luckily the short hair doesn't take long and we could all "sleep in" a bit. Photo shoot wrapped up at 12:30 pm and was an absolute blast with the entire team!

Monday May 25th I was welcomed home and surprised by my Jazzercise Center members with a fully decorated CONGRATULATIONS Jazzercise studio :)
